Job Title: Head of Engineering Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Company Overview: Our client is an innovative fin-tech/legal-tech company, we are exclusively seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a new talented team in Edinburgh. As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape (actively hiring a team), driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. Responsibilities: Leadership : Provide strategic direction and inspire the engineering team to achieve departmental goals. Project Oversight : Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Resource Management : Assign workloads to engineering teams, optimize resource allocation, and foster collaboration. Technical Guidance : Offer hands-on technical guidance, especially in areas such as JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS. Budgeting and Scheduling : Estimate project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient resource utilization. Stakeholder Communication : Collaborate with senior management, vendors, and clients, providing regular updates and negotiating project requirements. Quality Assurance : Ensure high-quality software development practices and adherence to best practices. Innovation : Drive innovation within the engineering function, exploring new technologies and methodologies. Requirements: Technical Expertise : Proficiency in JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS. You will be teaching and mentoring both junior and senior team members in these areas whilst leading from the front. Leadership Skills : Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams. Project Management : Experience overseeing complex projects from inception to completion. Communication : Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strategic Thinking : Ability to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred). Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
