Degree or similar higher qualification in Software/Mechatronics/Electronics or related discipline. Worked on interfacing automation hardware; eg sensors, actuators, drives and motors. A background in communications using serial, Ethernet and similar media. Experienced in programming industrial automation/manufacturing machines Having a thorough working knowledge and experience of 3 or more of the following will be beneficial: Implementing and commissioning stand-alone automation computers; eg PLC or Motion Controller. Good knowledge of a high level programming language; for example C, BASIC, Python. PLC programming, preferably using the standard IEC61131-3 environment. Electrical interfacing between a controller and sensors/actuators in an automation system. Servo drives and brushless servo motors. Stepper motors and drives. Ethernet networks, protocols and topology. A working knowledge of PCs running Windows. Basic level of Windows/Linux application programming. Real Time deterministic networks, eg EtherCAT, Sercos, CanOpen, Profinet RT. Application and configuration of Industrial Robots.
