Key Responsibilities Testing and Measurement Perform detailed testing of optical components (lasers, photodiodes, modulators, optical amplifiers) using advanced equipment Conduct fibre-optic testing including insertion loss and polarisation mode dispersion Utilize precision instruments to measure optical parameters Data Analysis & Reporting Analyse test data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential issues Compile comprehensive test reports and present findings Provide recommendations for process improvements Troubleshooting & Problem Solving Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to optical component performance Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and optimize product designs Required Qualifications and Skills Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent work experience) Proficiency with optical testing equipment (OTDRs, optical spectrum analysers, power meters) Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Strong problem-solving abilities Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Experience with data analysis software and report generation Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential) Certification in fibre-optic testing (eg, FOA CFOT) Familiarity with industry standards (ITU-T, IEEE, Telcordia) Experience with automated testing systems Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality control principles Benefits 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Competitive company pension contribution Company bonus scheme Health Cash Plan Opportunities for professional development and training If you're passionate about optical technology and have a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you!
