The ideal candidate will be an experienced IPC Nurse who has worked in an Acute setting on a senior level. The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with qualifications in Infection Prevention. Main duties: Provide expert nursing input in the identification, prevention, monitoring and control of infection across the Trust. Provide a visible, proactive approach to prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infection across all sites, including the review, formulation, implementation and education of evidence-based infection prevention and control practices, in line with national and hospital policy. Provide day to day management of the infection prevention and control service at the Trust. Support the development of junior members of the Infection Prevention and Control team, identifying training and educational needs. Essential skills: Leadership skills Good interpersonal skills Ability to demonstrate vision and translate strategy into operational reality Excellent communication skills oral, written and telephone Evidence and experience of report writing Able to gather and interpret data. Able to analyse data to improve compliance with infection prevention and control standards Proven ability to prioritise demanding workload and that of others Ability to identify stress in self and others and to take effective action to manage the situation Good computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint) Has the manual dexterity to perform interventions eg vaccination.
