Java Developer - 6 months - Hybrid (Glasgow) - Inside IR35

Hamilton Barnes is partnered with a major multinational Investment Bank seeking an experienced Java Developer. This is a hands-on development role focused on modernizing a Real Time, event-driven system while enhancing its scalability to support growing business event processing and data volumes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Work with message-based architectures such as MQ/Kafka
• Design and optimize SQL queries for Sybase and/or DB2
• Develop Unix/Linux scripts using Shell or Python
• Follow best practices in software development, testing, and deployment
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand application requirements

What You Should Bring:

• Java Server Side development with concurrent programming
• Spring Boot (Core Spring) and JUnit
• Understanding of message-based architectures (MQ/Kafka)
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with RDBMS (Sybase/DB2 preferred)

Contract Details:

• Duration: 6 months (Strong Extension Potential)
• Location: Glasgow - 3 days WFH - 2 Days
• Day Rate: £425 - 450 per day (Inside IR35)
• Start Date: ASAP
