Job Description: SAP Basis Requirements and Design

Duration: March - December 2025 (with extensions until April 2026)
Location: Netherlands
Onsite Requirements: 3+ times per week in Veldhoven

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable SAP Basis professional to join our team. This role involves defining technical application requirements, ensuring the secure and efficient operation of the SAP ecosystem, and acting as a bridge between service providers and various Agile IT teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in SAP Basis, technical design, infrastructure services, and life cycle management.

Key Responsibilities:Requirements and Design:

• Identify and define technical application requirements and its ecosystem(s), ensuring they are fit for operations and serviceability.
• Act as the linking pin between service providers and both Agile IT ART's (Agile Release Train) and Business Facing ART's (Agile Release Train), providing advice and guidance in delivering projects and changes.
• Act as a feature owner within the SAP Platform ART (Agile Release Train).
• Draft, review, and own high-level technical design documents, ensuring the optimal use of standard technology (catalog) components.
• Design application integrations and interfaces, and identify necessary data streams (eg, Firewall rules).
• Ensure secure access to environments for end-users and application management teams.

Delivery:

• Engage with external infrastructure service providers and internal infrastructure experts, including cloud experts, to ensure successful project and operational delivery.
• Order (new/changed) infrastructure services and standard technology components through the standard catalog process.

Maintain and Control:

• Define and supervise the technical application life cycle roadmap and planning for continuous improvement.
• Map the architectural components of applications during their life cycle to corresponding infrastructure elements.
• Optimize the life cycle of individual applications and infrastructure components, minimizing business impact where possible.
• Control the technical application landscape by overseeing the operations carried out by Service Providers or DevOps Teams, including installation, upgrade, and maintenance of applications and their infrastructure.
• Monitor application performance, availability, and capacity end-to-end and provide technical reporting.
• Manage problem resolution and escalate issues as necessary.
• Oversee application landscape security, including patching, security groups, Firewall rules, software security/vulnerabilities, hotfixes, etc.
• Participate as a 3rd level subject matter expert to identify and resolve high-priority incidents on the application landscape (across teams) and provide guidance on necessary actions.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in SAP Basis administration, with a solid understanding of SAP technical architecture.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure management, cloud services, and integration design.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (specifically Agile Release Trains) and experience in working within Agile frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges and incidents.
• Ability to draft and review high-level technical documentation and design specifications.
• Experience in working with external and internal service providers to deliver SAP projects and services.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Knowledge of SAP security best practices, including patching, access management, and compliance requirements.
