This role will require the successful candidate to work night shifts, (ie from 10pm to the early hours) during the working week (Sunday to Thursday).
The business is migrating from Legacy system's including Marconi SMAs, MV36/MV38 management platforms to Nokia MPLS.
Primary Purpose of the Role:
This role has been created to support an existing team within the Hitachi Service Centre who are responsible for the following:
To provision, configure and remove services in a controlled manner on the Transmission Systems managed by the Hitachi Service Centre for the implementation of the Renewable Operations Network.
To carry out agreed software and firmware updates as required to support the LUL Connect network.
This role will require the individual to work night shifts, during the working week (Sunday to Thursday).

As part of the role you will interact with the following on a regular basis:
Technical Manager.
Network Support Manager.
Configuration Management Lead.
Head of Service Operations.
Hitachi Projects staff, Designers, Project Managers and Project Engineers.
Hitachi Installation and Testing and Commissioning team members.
The wider Hitachi Services team and organisation.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
The list below is not exhaustive but is a guide as to the expected duties of the role.
To provision, configure and remove services in a controlled manner on the Transmission Systems.
To carry out agreed software and firmware updates to the systems.
Support Implementation, Change and Release Management carrying out the network changes from Network Management Centre.
Provide peer training and familiarity on configurable equipment types.
Configuration status and work reports as required.
Follow agreed configuration management processes
To undertake any reasonable duties within post holders competence as from time to time directed by Senior Management.
To work with Service Desk providing updates of changes or future changes to support customer by way of notification.
When deemed competent to do so, undertake equipment/system testing as required
To attend team briefs and review meetings when required.
Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks:
This role is continually monitored for performance and as such some of the following typical Key performance indicators (KPI's) will be used.
1. Quality of work carried out against agreed standards and procedures.
2. Contribution to Hitachi delivery of its service obligations.
3. Performance against Hitachi key values.
4. Performance against mandatory training.
Expected Competence Level:
Skills (underpinning Knowledge)
Robust knowledge and experience of the following equipment (or similar) essential:
Marconi SMAs, MV36/MV38 management platforms, Ericsson MPLS/TP, Nokia PDH (DN2, ACM2) NMS100, Nokia Synfonet, Keymile XMP (SOX management platform), Nokia MPLS.
Knowledge of Transmission Systems (PDH, SDH, MPLS, IP) and the supporting management systems.
Knowledge of operating system and application software.
Experience of system Testing and Faulting in a time Dependent environment.
Able to use a range of IT tools.
Ability to produce reports.
In the job it is important to be able to:
Read, understand and write clear technical documents.
Read and understand in order to work safely in a Railway Telecoms industry.
Previous Health and Safety experience is desirable
Experience:
A proven record of working with transmission systems.
Experience of working in an Operational Service Delivery (or Projects) environment
Desirable Qualifications and Certification:
Training on Transmission System (as above) equipment.
Degree/HNC/HND in communications related subject.
Essential
Experience of working in an Network Management Centre environment.
