Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Programme Director to lead and deliver complex data transformation initiatives across the organisation. You will oversee the strategic direction, governance, and delivery of programmes that harness data to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and organisational performance. This is a high-impact role requiring strong leadership, data expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership:

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data programmes, ensuring alignment with NHS strategic objectives.
• Oversee programme governance, risk management, and performance reporting.
• Ensure effective allocation and management of resources to meet programme milestones.

Data Strategy & Transformation:

• Define and implement data strategies to improve data quality, integration, and analytics capabilities.
• Collaborate with technical teams to build scalable data platforms and infrastructure.
• Promote the use of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to support evidence-based decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Engage with senior stakeholders, including NHS executives, clinicians, and external partners, to align programme goals and priorities.
• Act as the key point of contact for regulatory and compliance bodies, ensuring programmes meet data governance and security standards.
• Communicate complex data strategies and programme updates in an accessible manner to diverse audiences.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Build and lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Mentor and support team members in their professional development.
• Ensure teams have the tools and training necessary to deliver programme objectives.

Healthcare Transformation:

• Drive the adoption of data-driven healthcare initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
• Ensure programmes align with NHS policies, standards, and frameworks, including data privacy regulations like GDPR and NHS Digital guidelines.

Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:

• Proven experience as a Programme Director or Senior Programme Manager in complex environments.
• Strong background in data management, analytics, and technology transformation.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale programmes within budget and timelines.
• Deep understanding of NHS structures, policies, and healthcare data frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with data governance, security, and compliance in healthcare.

Desirable:

• Good to have Prior experience in NHS or healthcare settings.
• Familiarity with advanced data analytics tools and platforms (eg, Power BI, Tableau, Azure, AWS).
• Knowledge of national healthcare initiatives such as the NHS Long Term Plan or Integrated Care Systems (ICS).
• Relevant certifications in programme management (eg, MSP, PRINCE2, or Agile).
