Principal Network Engineer - 6 month contract - Outside IR35

My client is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to lead the design, maintenance, and expansion of our carrier-grade network. Reporting to the Network Manager, you will be a technical expert capable of resolving complex faults and managing end-to-end project delivery. This hybrid role combines individual contributions, team leadership, and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Contract Details:

• Start Date: January
• Duration: 6 months Rolling Contract
• Rate: £480 - £520 Per Day
• Location: Hybrid - Central London

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver network projects, from planning to optimization, ensuring SLA thresholds are met.
• Act as the final escalation point for complex network issues and provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
• Design, maintain, and optimize the network, enhancing performance, security, and reliability.
• Document network designs, troubleshooting procedures, and migration strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to complete projects and perform out-of-hours work as required.

Requirements:

• Cisco core network experience, preferably in Altnet broadband.
• Expertise in Cisco ASR, NCS devices, and Firepower models
• Experience with PON infrastructure.
• Comprehensive knowledge of key technologies: BGP, OSPF/ISIS, IPv6, MPLS, and VPNs.
• Proven experience with network monitoring tools, project delivery, and technical documentation.
• CCIE certification required is desirable.
