Your new role As the Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models, ETL processes, reports, and dashboards, delivering end-to-end BI solutions from data ingestion to processing and visualisation. Working with colleagues to refine and estimate requirements and deliver pragmatic solutions that meet the business's needs. Contributing to the implementation and development of standards, tools and techniques ensuring all work is delivered in accordance with best practice. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate progress, challenges, and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Working closely with colleagues, including business analysts and data engineers, to refine and estimate requirements. Design and implement dimensional and semantic models for reporting and scalable and efficient ETL processes using Azure Data Services, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and performance. Create actionable and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI that inform decisions and support service delivery. As part of the role, you will be expected to ensure all code is documented and committed to version control following agreed branching and pull-request processes and implementing in accordance with development, configuration management, testing and change control standards whilst Implementing and maintaining security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements. What you'll need to succeed Proven experience of delivering end-to-end BI solutions Experience of agile/iterative development including refining, and estimating user-stories, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of Business Intelligence solutions Strong Scripting/programming skills in languages such as Python/R and advanced knowledge of SQL. In-depth knowledge of data warehouse design and development including data modelling (Kimball) and developing ETL/ELT processes Experience of designing and implementing Power BI semantic models and developing measures in DAX. Experienced in delivering reports and dashboards in Power BI with expertise in data visualisation, best practise and accessibility standards Experience of Azure DevOps including backlogs, boards, GIT, automation, and deployment pipelines Knowledge and understanding relevant information, security risks and mitigation Knowledge and understanding of data protection regulations including GDPR The ability to think strategically, pay close attention to detail, and proactively research solutions and best practices, with proven analytical, organisational, and planning skills. A data scientist should know: - Multiple modelling techniques - Model validation and selection techniques A data scientist must understand the use of different methodologies to get insight from the data and translate the insight into business value. Model deployment - an ML model is valuable when it's integrated into an existing production environment and used to make business decisions. Deploying a validated model and monitoring it to maintain the accuracy of the results is a key skill. Big data foundation - a data scientist deals with a large volume of structured and unstructured data, they must demonstrate understanding of how big data is used, the big data ecosystem and its major components. The data scientist must also demonstrate expertise with big data platforms, such as Hadoop and Spark and master SQL and NoSQL. Leadership and professional development - data scientists must be good problem solvers. They must understand the opportunity before implementing the solution, work in a rigorous and complete manner, and explain their findings.
