2x RAN Technical SMEs (1 Nokia & 1 Ericsson) - Automation Team
We are looking for a highly experienced RAN Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our client's innovative automation team. This role calls for an in-depth understanding of Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies, particularly in either Ericsson or Nokia platforms and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a robust knowledge of Network Automation, Orchestration, and Service Management. In this role, you will lead the design and development of automation solutions within the mobile network, ensuring maximum performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Technical Authority: Act as the primary technical expert on RAN-related matters, focusing on either Ericsson or Nokia RAN infrastructure for the Mobile Automation Team.
• Automation Solution Development: Partner with the automation team to design, architect, and deploy RAN automation solutions that streamline network operations such as provisioning, fault handling, and performance tuning.
• Network and Service Orchestration: Enhance and support orchestration capabilities, integrating RAN functionalities within a unified service orchestration framework.
• Advanced Support: Deliver third-line technical support for automated RAN systems, troubleshooting complex issues to ensure network service continuity.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create technical documentation and training resources to aid in the deployment and ongoing support of RAN automation tools.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-departmental teams, including core network, IT, and field operations, to align on and achieve automation objectives.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for advancing RAN automation processes and technologies, keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• RAN Expertise: Demonstrated experience in Radio Access Networks (RAN) with in-depth knowledge of either Ericsson or Nokia platforms and associated equipment.
• Understanding of RAN Technologies: Solid foundation in RAN architectures, especially 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies.
• Proficiency in Automation & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with network automation platforms and a solid grasp of orchestration frameworks (such as NFV, SDN, MANO, ETSI).
• OSS/BSS Integration: Proficiency in integrating OSS/BSS with network components, specifically:
  • Ericsson: Proficient in Ericsson ENM and AMOS, with experience in Scripting for bulk provisioning within ENM.
  • Nokia: Proficient in Nokia NetAct and AMOS, with experience in Scripting for bulk provisioning within NetAct.
• RAN Alliance Interfaces: Knowledge of RAN Alliance interfaces (O1, A1, O2, M-Plane (R1) for use in multi-RAT, multi-vendor environments.
• Telecom Security Compliance: Familiarity with the Telecom Security Act and its impact on RAN automation.
• Analytical Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scripting & Automation Languages: Practical experience with Scripting languages like Python or Ansible.
• Experience in CI/CD & Virtualization: Experience in CI/CD for automation workflows and familiarity with cloud-native and virtualized RAN (vRAN) environments.
• Agile & DevOps: Working knowledge of DevOps and Agile methodologies.
• Certifications: Relevant industry certifications, such as an Ericsson Certified Associate or a Nokia certification.
