This Telecommunications client's team is very specialised in mobile data. There is a specific part of the mobile network called the packet core. They are using cloud infrastructure but for this role they need someone who has worked in a similar role before, They have changed to 5G SA, so they have this as well as the Legacy EPC packet core. They are currently doing a capacity expansion and software upgrades so they need someone to help with maintaining the network. You will be a Technical Design Authority for the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and the new 5G Dual Mode Core (5G DMC), realising the strategic architecture and strategy and translating that into a detailed design. You will be responsible for leading and actively driving those designs through test and into the live network. The focus of the role will be to support the Packet Core team in achieving compliance with the UK's Telecommunication Security Act (TSA) which will require passion for an expertise in the following areas: - Signalling Plane Security - Management Plane Security (Access Control/Identity Management/RBAC/JML/ISO27001) - Resilience, Backup & Restore design - Security Configuration/System Hardening - Security Event logging - Security Maintenance (security testing, vulnerability management and patching). The role covers all technical design aspects of the Packet Core nodes for the support of business solutions and MVNO operating models. The role incorporates Consumer/Corporate MME, AMF SGW/PGW, SMF, UPF and ePDG gateway designs to support capacity and capability builds defined in the plan of intent and to act as a Technical Design Authority as required. The role requires the holder to act as a Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for Packet Core team to support the drive for TSA compliance, which will entail engaging with other members of the Packet Core teams to obtain network design and configuration information and consolidating it for internal Security and Compliance teams. The holder will also share compliance requirements and security best practices within the Packet Core team. To be considered for this role candidates must have detailed knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G NSA and 5G SA packet core systems. Extensive knowledge of Ericsson's PS Core Products and Ericsson OSS tools. Extensive knowledge of Virtualised environments (OpenStack, VMWare) and Cloud based computing. Extensive knowledge of PS core network functionality and technology, including all PS Core interfaces, mobility management procedures, session management procedures, interworking & handover, QoS, GTP, IP technology, MVNO, national & international roaming. Extensive knowledge of traffic monitoring systems such as Wireshark, Empirix, INET, Netscout. Knowledge of Performance Management systems. Knowledge of Radio, BSS, OSS, terminals and services etc. Flexible working options are available, but you must be prepared to work in a hybrid fashion - 2 days per week on site is expected without exception on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the client HQ in the M3/M4 Corridor. Overseas candidates will not be considered - nor will anyone needing sponsorship. A rate of £585 per day is available - Inside IR35.
