WVNET is seeking to hire a new Telecommunication Network Specialist 3 to analyze, design, configure, install, deploy and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Campus networks (Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls), associated wireless infrastructure (Extreme, Meraki), video telepresence infrastructure (Cisco VCS, MCU, Polycom endpoints), VOIP solutions (CUCM, SIP trunks), System Monitoring (Kiwi syslog, LibreNMS) and remote access (VPN ASA, AAA, TACACS, RADIUS) and associated ongoing maintenance and updating of related hardware and software. The Telecom Network Specialist 3 position will also provide training and guidance to telecom staff. All telecommunication positions participate on a rotating on call schedule to respond to network emergencies 24/7.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to multitask and enjoy problem solving. Candidate will be given lead on tasks and assignments from day one, to include working daily with local and remote technical and non-technical staff to analyze and correct network-related issues (video, audio, data, throughput, latency, outages, compromised machines and misuse, etc.).

SALARY/BENEFITS

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve network-related or thought-to-be-related issues across the entire state of West Virginia. Configure, install, maintain and update video-related hardware and associated software/firmware/code. Maintaining and upgrading as needed multiple Operating Systems (Windows7-10, Windows Server running on desktops, laptops, VMs) and their network-related software (Wireshark, Snort, TMS, ASDM, NMAP, etc.) as well as work to setup, troubleshooting and teardown wired and wireless networks at hotels and similar venues for statewide education & technology-related conferences, and occasional travel to all 55 WV counties (as well as Pittsburgh, PA and Columbus, OH) as needed to install, replace and maintain networking equipment. Work with remote sites to identify and Remedy compromised machines around the WV State network. Be on call to respond to network emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This is a rare occurrence, but after-hours work is always possible unless on leave or out of town. Ideally, we all back one another up on the Telecom Team. Configure, install, maintain and update network-related hardware and associated software/firmware/code. Utilize in-house OZ problem tracking system to record and track projects, maintenance of equipment and as a tool for researching past solutions to problems.
