Job Title: Radio Access Network (RAN) Nokia Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) Location: Remote - Travel to Reading or London office if and when required Salary/Rate: up to £680 a day Inside IR35 Start Date: December 2024 Job Type: 6-month contract (with scope to extend) Company Introduction We are looking for a new Radio Access Networks (RAN) Subject Mater Expert to join our client, one of the largest Telecommunication organizations in the UK. The role requires in-depth knowledge of the interface and API used between Ericsson and third-party systems, and it will require the development and coding of software to facilitate interconnectivity. This is fundamental. Required Skills/Experience Proven experience in Radio Access Networks (RAN) with expertise Nokia RAN platforms and equipment. Strong understanding of RAN architectures, including 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies. Experience with network automation tools and platforms. Familiarity with network orchestration and service orchestration concepts and technologies (eg, NFV, SDN, MANO, ETSI frameworks). Understanding of OSS/BSS systems and their integration with network elements, specifically Nokia NetAct, AMOS and its APIs. Experience with bulk provisioning Scripting into NetAct and understanding conflict/overload Knowledge and understanding of RAN Alliance interfaces such as O1, A1, O2 and M-Plane (R1) and how to implement rApp capability in a multi RAT/multi-vendor environment. An appreciation of how the Telecom Security Act (TSA) may impact RAN automation. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and engage with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges. Desirable Skills/Experience Experience in CI/CD pipelines for automation workflows. Hands-on experience with automation Scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, or similar tools. Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and virtualized RAN (vRAN). Familiarity with DevOps practices and Agile methodologies. Industry certifications appropriate for Nokia RAN Job Responsibilities/Objectives Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary technical authority on RAN-related topics, focusing on Nokia RAN platforms and equipment for the Mobile Automation Team. Automation Design: Collaborate with the Mobile Automation team to architect, design, and implement RAN automation solutions to streamline network operations, including provisioning, fault management, and performance optimization. Network Orchestration: Support and enhance network orchestration capabilities, working closely with the Mobile Automation team to integrate RAN functionalities into the broader service orchestration architecture. Service Orchestration: Contribute to the development of service orchestration strategies, ensuring seamless integration of RAN services within the automated network environment. Operational Support: Provide 3rd-line technical support for automated RAN systems, resolving complex issues and ensuring high availability of network services. Documentation & Training: Develop technical documentation and training materials to support the deployment and operation of RAN automation solutions. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including core network, IT, and field operations teams, to ensure alignment on automation goals and objectives. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in RAN automation processes, tools, and technologies, staying updated on the latest trends in RAN automation and orchestration
