Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer - Defence Sector - 12 months - Hybrid (South Wales) One of Orbis' defence clients are looking for a team of 5 Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineers to join a multi-disciplined engineering team involved in the development, manufacture and testing of a number of new products. You'll be working on some of the coolest and most innovative products within defence with autonomy to input your own ideas to the design. Responsibilities Assisting product development and systems engineering activities for new products Coordination of product development and related engineering activities Configuration and maintenance of Engineering bills of materials for products Product development and evaluation eg Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) Manufacture, test and evaluation of munitions products Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner - from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data Development and use safe systems of work Development of quality systems Management of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule Contribution to the Life Cycle Management Process where required Contribution to the Risk Management process Liaise with customers as demanded Working as part of an integrated project team, with regular engagement across other functions; including project management, procurement (supply chain) and commercial Competencies, Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering discipline) Available for immediate start Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in development projects, in particular system integration Proven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver product Engineering tasks within development projects to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to required standard Ability to produce high quality technical reports A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and strong IT skills A good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniques Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer - Defence Sector - 12 months - Hybrid (South Wales) Rate: £37.50 per hour inside IR35 Location: Glascoed, South Wales (Onsite for the first 2 months, then 2 days a week onsite) Duration: 12 months Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer - Defence Sector - 12 months - Hybrid (South Wales)
