A System Performance Engineer is required for a long term contract assignment on site in Stevenage. A four day compressed week may be available. Candidates would need to be eligible for SC clearance to UK Eyes Only Level. As a Systems Performance Engineer within one of our systems engineering teams you will provide performance prediction and analysis expertise to major defence programmes, developing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in all domains (Air, Land, Sea). Expect assignment to concept, assessment or demonstration phase contracts, covering one of the new product lines. Role Overview: They are seeking an experienced and visionary technical leader to guide the development and implementation of their next-generation Real Time simulation platform for power systems and related domains. The successful candidate will lead a high-calibre technical team in designing, developing, and deploying advanced modelling and simulation technologies, enabling accurate, reliable, and scalable Real Time simulations tailored for power systems, energy infrastructure, renewable integration, and electrification scenarios. This role requires deep expertise in Real Time systems, power system modelling, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, software architecture, and team-building capabilities, with a clear vision to create world-class simulation solutions. In-depth knowledge of simulation software architectures, high-performance computing (HPC), parallel/distributed processing techniques, and model integration frameworks. . Experience managing or leading multidisciplinary teams and proven ability to attract, motivate, mentor, and retain top-tier technical talent. . Track record of innovation and successful delivery of complex technology solutions in the power, energy, or related industrial sectors. . Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French is beneficial but not mandatory. Preferred Experience and Skills: . Your Role: Participate in a range of research projects in electromagnetics & associated applications. Provide scientific contributions to the theory, modelling, optimization & application of the EM near-field. Develop novel instrumentation, computational methods & characterization procedures. Participate in national & international standard activities (IEC, IEEE, etc.). Collaborate with external research partners & provision hardware support for customers. Your Skills & Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience with EM Simulation Software (eg COMSOL, ANSYS) and/or EM Measurement Instruments. Skilled & experience in Programming in C++ and/or Python. Ideally experienced in at least one of the following areas: Wireless Communication Systems, Radiofrequency Antenna Simulation & Measurements, Electrodynamics, Numerical Simulation of EM fields, Biomedical Engineering, Error Analysis & Uncertainty Conventions.
