We have an exciting opportunity for a SC Cleared Systems Engineering Scientist to join our well established client in Christchurch on a permanent basis. Our client have a hybrid working arrangement. 3 days in the office. Salary: £85,000 p.a Position Overview: The Engineering Team based in Farnborough, UK is responsible for: * The system design and integration of the latest military communications products into customer focused solutions. * The design, development and porting of military waveforms onto Software Defined Radios. * The through-life support of in-service and future tactical radio products and systems. The Engineering Team comprises system, software, hardware, mechanical and test engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the company's success by providing systems engineering expertise for product and systems development programmes. This role will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager. There will be daily interaction with other engineers and frequent contact with team members from within the company, partner organisations, customers and suppliers. This is a customer facing role and frequent customer interaction is expected. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to activities across the full systems engineering life cycle including requirements, design, modelling, integration, diagnostics and system/sub-system test. Essential Responsibilities: * Understand, analyse and assess customers' needs and requirements. * Document and present system solutions to technical and non-technical audiences through technical specifications, white papers and presentations. * Chair Design Reviews and Technical Working Groups at all stages of the system life cycle. * Review of technical proposals, specifications and design documentation. * Produce and maintain delivery plans, governance structures, policies and procedures to support system development and deliveries. * Identify and propose research and study activities to introduce new/updated technologies and solutions. Review the outcomes to understand customer benefits. Required (Basic) Qualifications: * Bachelor's or Master's Degree and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. * Detailed knowledge and experience of secure communications systems and networking preferably in a deployed environment. * Experience and knowledge of systems engineering life cycles. * Experience of writing technical specifications, reports and presentations. * Customer facing communication skills. * Ability to work under consultative direction against high level goals and objectives. * Hold a UK SC clearance or be prepared to obtain one. Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge and experience of MBSE, SysML or similar, associated tools and methodologies. * Knowledge and experience of requirements management and associated tools. * Knowledge of RF systems, products and ancillaries. Including designing system solutions, planning and management. * Knowledge of network communications technologies, enterprise architectures and interoperability (eg IP Networking, network management, network security). * An understanding of security architectures, information assurance and product security. * Understanding of Design Certification and product safety processes. * Understanding of UK MOD approaches to systems engineering and procurement. * An understanding of computer operating systems and virtualisation. * A keen interest in current and emerging technologies and roadmaps in related areas.
