I have an exciting opportunity that has just become available for a Senior Platforms engineer to join a highly reputable university to act as a key link between the development teams and senior management. You will play a pivotal role in improving and developing HPC solutions ensuring they are effective and meet business requirements from an internal user and customer perspective. Starting ASAP, paying up to £85,000 per annum. Role Responsibilities: Manages development teams in the appropriate and effective use of high-performance computing resources. Oversees solution development and refinement, ensuring effective stakeholder communications and engagement throughout, to quality assure high-performance computing solutions. Designs large or complex systems, covering for example: objectives, scope, constraints (such as performance, resources etc), hardware, network and software environments. Produces detailed design specification to form the basis for construction of systems, including for example: physical data flows, class and sequence diagrams, database schemas, file layouts, common routines and utilities, program specifications or prototypes, and backup, recovery and restart procedures. Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications. Designs components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Capable of developing in programming/Scripting languages, such as Python, C, C++, Bash, etc.
