Senior Software Engineer Python, JavaScript, Linux/Windows, Mathematical Modelling, AI A great opportunity to work with a dynamic R&D software team and to develop a range of digital technology solutions to solve real world scenarios in a military/MoD setting. This small and talented team comprise of software engineers, data scientists, research engineers and mathematic programmers developing a range of solutions that support and safeguard British military personnel. Using mathematical modelling and data analytics, the systems build communication and distribution links between multiple MoD forces enabling fast response, situation awareness training, geographical placement of services and equipment and emergency response deployment. We are looking for a Senior Level Software Developer keen to progress to team lead in the future (2-3 years). As such leadership aptitude and a mindset of supportive coach and mentor is the ideal profile. Scope of the role The work is varied and will include: Software development using Python & JavaScript across Linux & windows. Problem lead solutions engineering. Identifying the best fit technology to solve the problem; ie C, C++, C#, Haskell, Java, Python etc Developing and running mathematical models/algorithms to assist in data driven decision making. Conducting background research for new techniques, eg AI & ML. Developing innovative analysis methods. Ongoing professional self-development. Working conditions This work will be hybrid office based in Alton, Hampshire (2-3 days a week) with occasional travel to customer site. On completion of probation, hybrid flexibility will increase.
